Ancestors of the Fazekas family has been working as wine-makers and vine-dressers for centuries. The first qualified wine-maker in the Somló region was a member of the family in the 1800s, he was the great-grandfather of the winery’s current owner.
The famous champagne of Somló has been made by Fazekas Winery since 1999, based on a secret formula and using Somló wines of selected quality bottled in vintage green bottles with cork stopper and 14-carat gold plated label.
Besides traditional and unique bottling, bottles with custom design are also prepared in the winery’s bottling facility using sandblasting or printing. Sparkling wines of the Balaton region are also bottled in the winery.
Under wine tourism in the region of Somló, Fazekas Winery provide tasting of quality, full bodied bulk white wines of excellent vintages which are rich in minerals and made of Juhfark, Furmint, Welschriesling, Hárslevelű and Tramini varieties.
Upon request, wines of Somló are accompanied by cold or hot dishes (for a minimum of 10 people) and live music. Gourmets must not forget about the famous stock of old wines.
Under wine tourism in the region of Somló, the winery is available for groups (pensioners’ clubs, gatherings with family and friends, incentive events and class reunions) from 10 to 100 people, including visiting of the wine and champagne bottling room and champagne tasting. The winery also provides off-site wine-tastings.
The wine cellar is closely related to the Wine Competition of Borbála Wine Order which takes place every year.
